This privacy policy describes how Vera RCM, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with File Ferret (the "App") and the fileferret.app website (the "Website").

The short version: The File Ferret app does not collect, store, or transmit your files or search contents. The fileferret.app website uses Google Analytics for basic traffic measurement.

Information We Collect

App: File Ferret does not collect any personal information, usage data, analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or diagnostics. The App makes no network connections and operates entirely offline on your Mac.

Website: fileferret.app uses Google Analytics 4 to measure page views and on-site engagement such as download CTA clicks and contact form activity. This data helps us understand website traffic and improve the site.

File Access

File Ferret accesses files and folders on your Mac solely to perform the search operations you initiate. All file access is:

• Local only — files are read on your Mac and never uploaded, copied, or transmitted anywhere
• Sandboxed — File Ferret runs inside the macOS App Sandbox, which limits the App's access to only the folders you explicitly grant permission to
• On-demand — files are only accessed when you perform a search; no background scanning or indexing occurs

Purchases and Payments

File Ferret is coming soon to the Mac App Store, pending Apple's approval. Once available, it will include a 3-day free trial and a one-time purchase of $4.99. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive, process, or store any payment information, including credit card numbers, billing addresses, or Apple ID credentials.

Website

The fileferret.app website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure page views and on-site engagement such as download button clicks and contact form submissions. GA4 sets cookies on your browser to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. We do not send advertising pixels (such as Facebook Pixel), and we do not transmit your file contents or in-app search data to any analytics service. No personally identifiable information (name, email) is sent to Google Analytics — only anonymous usage data.

Contact Form

When you submit the contact form on our website, we collect your name, email address, inquiry type, message, and optionally your app version. This data is transmitted to Web3Forms (web3forms.com) for delivery to our support inbox at support@verarcm.com. We use this data solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not sell, share, or use this data for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

The website uses the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics 4 — for traffic measurement and engagement analytics. GA4 may set cookies (_ga, _ga_*) on your browser. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Web3Forms — to deliver messages sent through the contact form. When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, inquiry type, and message are transmitted to Web3Forms for delivery to our inbox. See Web3Forms' Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts — the website loads the Plus Jakarta Sans typeface from Google's font servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). This transmits your IP address and browser information to Google on each page load.

For the app, the only external service involved is Apple's App Store and StoreKit for purchase processing, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. The File Ferret app itself makes no network connections and does not use any third-party SDKs.

Children's Privacy

The File Ferret app does not collect any data from any user, including children. The fileferret.app website uses Google Analytics, which collects anonymous usage data from all visitors, and provides a contact form that collects personal information only when voluntarily submitted. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through our contact form, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Data Retention

File Ferret app: The app retains no data. Search queries, results, and file contents are processed in memory during your search and are not saved, logged, or transmitted.

Website: Google Analytics retains anonymous usage data according to Google's data retention settings (currently 14 months by default). Contact form submissions are retained by Web3Forms according to their retention policy and in our support inbox until we delete them. We do not maintain a separate database of contact form submissions.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy regulations, you have rights regarding your personal data. The File Ferret app collects no personal data. For the website: if you have submitted information through our contact form, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of that data by emailing support@verarcm.com. For Google Analytics data, you can opt out using Google's browser opt-out plugin or by clearing your browser cookies.

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and post the revised policy here. If you have submitted your email address through our contact form, we may notify you of material changes. Otherwise, this page is the primary notice mechanism.
